Updated: Apr 18, 2023

The St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center receives grant from the Vermont Community Foundation to fund a lecture and an exhibit of Fairbanks Scales electrotyped photographs from the early 1900’s.

The St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center recently received a $2000 grant from the Vermont Community Foundation’s Small and Inspiring grant program. The grant will help further the St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center’s mission to preserve historic collections and provide educational programs.  The grant’s funds will allow the Center to sponsor an educational lecture and exhibit many early Fairbanks Scales electrotyped photographs at Catamounts Arts in St. Johnsbury this spring.

Peggy Pearl, director of the History & Heritage Center, said “I am very excited that we can share this collection with the St. Johnsbury community.   It is a great combination of art and history and we are grateful to the Vermont Community Foundation.”

Through its Small and Inspiring grants program, the Community Foundation hopes to help foster the spark and hope that keeps Vermonters healthy and happy by finding and supporting projects in every town in Vermont where a small grant can make a big difference.   The St. Johnsbury History and Heritage Center’s vision is to provide a stimulating environment for the citizens of St. Johnsbury to celebrate and enrich the town’s history. The St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center believes in the importance of preserving history, teaching history, exhibiting history, and instilling history for all generations.  More information about the Center can be found at www.stjhistory.org or by contacting Peggy Pearl, director, at (802) 424-1090.
